Minnesota minority sophomores register gains on writing tests

More minority 10th-graders are passing Minnesota's writing test, yet an achievement gap still persists between minorities and whites. State Education Commissioner Cheri Pierson Yecke expressed optimism that the improved passing rate for Asians and blacks, which has risen by nearly one-third over the last five years, is a sign that the gap is beginning to close.
