Corps of Engineers too slow on plan to protect Louisiana, official says

The Army Corps of Engineers is not coordinating and cooperating with state efforts as it creates a plan to protect southeastern Louisiana from a Category 5 hurricane, according to the chairman of the Governor's Advisory Commission on Coastal Protection, Restoration and Conservation. "I hear the word 'collaboration' (with the state plan) but it is not there," R. King Milling says, noting that the Corps lacks a sense of urgency. Coastal Protection and Restoration Project Manager Edmond Russo said the Corps needs more data before it can move forward with its plan.
