Editorial: Connecticut unions should become marriages

Saying civil unions represent "a second-class form of matrimony," The New York Times is calling on the Connecticut Legislature to approve marriage -- in name -- to same-sex couples. The Times points out the change in nomenclature wouldn't give gay and lesbian couples any new rights, but would make "a statement that the stability, commitment and love between same-sex partners is worthy of respect."
