Projects under way to bring transit tunnels to Heathrow

Nearly a fifth of the $8.3 billion expansion to Terminal Five at Heathrow Airport in London is below ground, in a network of tunnels that will be bored by four closed and open-faced machines. The project will involve extending London's Piccadilly Line and the Heathrow Express into Terminal Five, which will handle up to 30 million passengers annually.
