Bernanke to face tough questions on Bear Stearns deal

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke is expected to face questions on the central bank's bailout of Bear Stearns when he testifies before congressional committees today and Thursday. Bernanke will likely be asked to explain how he negotiated the Bear Stearns deal, how he decided to accept $30 billion in dubious collateral, who set the share price for Bear Stearns and what role was played by Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr.
