Combo drug may help ease side effect of high-dose niacin

A new combination drug, Cordaptive, may help patients take high doses of cholesterol-reducing niacin without the painful and embarrassing side effect of severe skin reddening. Almost half of patients who took the new drug had no flushing, compared with 22% of those who took a lower dose of a time-release version of niacin.
