Airlines slash ticket prices into start of peak season

Carriers have lowered their fares for travel into June signaling concern about filling seats as the peak travel season begins. Tom Parsons, CEO of, said airlines are offering round-trip tickets as low as $78 on many routes. Deals are being seen for even smaller cities "like Roanoke, Va., which never gets invited to a fare sale," Parsons said. "It just shows how desperate (the airlines) are."
