Duke Realty breaks ground on $1 billion DOD complex

Financed on a pay-as-you-go-basis by the federal government, the $1 billion, 1.7 million-square-foot office complex that Duke Realty Corp. is building for the Department of Defense hasn't felt the effects of the credit crunch. Peter Scholz, senior vice president at Duke's Washington, D.C., operations, said it can be a good thing to do government work when the economy is in a slump. "However, if you've never done it before, it can be an intimidating and daunting mountain to climb," he said.
