Japan commits $10.3 billion to prop up REITs

Japan is setting up a $10.3 billion fund to support Japanese REITs, according to published reports. The ruling-party proposal is the latest and perhaps boldest effort to stimulate the country's sagging real estate sector. The proposal was announced just days after a study showed widespread property value declines throughout the country.
