AIG chief is upbeat about company's prospects

Robert Benmosche, chief executive of American International Group, said several recent developments can be viewed as good signs in the company's effort to become independent after receiving a massive government rescue package. "People can see the company is going to pull itself out from the hole," Mr. Benmosche said. Among recent developments is a rating upgrade that cited "continued momentum" in AIG's insurance businesses.
