California GOP considers marriage-equality supporter

California Republican voters could choose a U.S. Senate candidate who supports marriage equality, according to a poll by the Public Policy Institute of California. Former U.S. Rep. Tom Campbell, who opposed Proposition 8 and supports marriage rights for same-sex couples, is almost tied with Carly Fiorina, a former Hewlett-Packard CEO, in the race to challenge Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer this November. That development may have set off alarm bells at the anti-gay National Organization for Marriage, which has launched ads opposing Campbell.
