Nurses say they spend too much time on paperwork

About 73% of nurses who responded to an online survey said they spend one-quarter of each 12-hour shift on indirect patient care, taking care of regulatory requirements, redundant paperwork and logistical challenges. Hospitals should implement technology in process management to improve work flow and patient handling to help nurses provide better care for patients, one expert said.
