Apple, Samsung extend smartphone dominance

The iPhone 4G outsold all other smartphones combined at AT&T and Sprint Nextel in March while equaling its rivals in sales at Verizon Wireless, according to estimates from the Canaccord research firm. Canaccord's survey found Apple and Samsung consolidating their smartphone dominance in the U.S. and overseas, with the South Korean manufacturer at the top of the pack. Analyst Mike Walkley predicted that Samsung's sales would increase 15% from the fourth quarter.
