Chesapeake reports large production numbers from Utica Shale wells

Five Chesapeake Energy wells in Ohio's Utica Shale play produced a total of 2.6 billion cubic feet of natural gas in 2011, the company said in a report submitted to the state's Department of Natural Resources. The numbers continue to boost the company's optimism about the play, said Chesapeake spokesman Keith Fuller. "The data reported, while promising, is still very limited and only a small part of the information needed to gauge the potential of the entire formation," he said.
