Mass. medical facility's $296M project moves on to second phase

The first phase of Baystate Medical Center's $296 million new building and facility-expansion project is finished, according to Suffolk Construction. The 641,000-square-foot facility in Springfield, Mass., features a high-tech heart and vascular center, as well as inpatient and critical care rooms. The contractor has broken ground on the project's second phase, which involves construction of a 70,000-square-foot emergency department.
