Poll: Advisers tout variable annuities more since credit crisis

Among advisers who regularly sell annuities, 60% have increased their recommendations of variable annuities since 2008, and 49% of those who occasionally sell contracts have done so, according to a survey by the Insured Retirement Institute and Alliance Bernstein. Advisers said the credit crisis and market crisis of 2008 prompted more clients to push for guaranteed investments, and 50% of respondents said that is why they are recommending more variable annuities.
