2% Medicare cuts covering EHR effort, provider payments take effect

A 2% reduction in Medicare payments to hospitals and doctors as a result of sequestration went into effect Monday and is expected to affect the EHR incentive effort. Speaking at the HIMSS13 conference last month in New Orleans, National HIT Coordinator Dr. Farzad Mostashari said sequestration would trim the ONC's budget by $3 million.
