Case involving forum-selection clause will go before Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has agreed to take on a case involving a business contract that includes a forum-selection clause. The case stems from a lawsuit brought by a company that acted as a subcontractor on a project for which it says it was not compensated. A mandatory forum-selection clause is in the subcontract, but the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit decided that "private parties should not have the power to transcend federal venue statutes that have been duly enacted by Congress and render venue improper in a district where it otherwise would be proper under congressional legislation."
