CSB has authority to probe Gulf oil spill, court rules

The Chemical Safety Board has the authority to probe the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, U.S. District Judge Lee Rosenthal ruled. The CSB was asked by lawmakers to investigate the incident, but Transocean did not cooperate with the agency, arguing CSB lacked offshore oil spill jurisdiction. "This ruling greatly supports the CSB's ongoing investigation and will enable CSB investigators to access critical information that might have otherwise been unavailable," the board said.
