Mo. city's streetcar plan moves forward with ordinance approvals

The Kansas City, Mo., City Council has passed three ordinances to aid the construction and financing of a 2.2-mile, $102 million streetcar line. The measures establish a $6 million fund for the streetcar in the city's budget; form a multimodal-transportation advisory committee to determine spending using a transportation sales tax; and authorize the city to apply for federal transportation assistance.
