Report says Md. school district could improve wellness plan

Wellness policy revisions proposed for Howard County schools in Maryland are good but could be better, according to a study by the Yale University Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity. Proposed policies address physical activity in the classroom and student breakfast and nutrition guidelines, but the Rudd report said shortcomings include types of foods sold in vending machines and inadequate recess time for younger students.
