Whole Foods plans to grow produce on NYC rooftop

Whole Foods Market is building a 20,000-square-foot greenhouse on the roof of a store in Brooklyn, N.Y. Gotham Greens will grow pesticide-free produce year-round to supply the store and others in New York City, Whole Foods says. The structure, which is being constructed to use less water and energy than a traditional greenhouse, is scheduled to begin operation in the fall.
