Maine's lawmakers may vote to remove scores of highway signs

Lawmakers in Maine are debating a bill that drew fire from some residents because it calls for removing 68 signs on the state's interstate highways and moving 13 others to more appropriate spots. Years of signs erected by special request to the state Legislature have resulted in an eclectic mix, and the bill would bring state law in line with federal regulations for interstate highway signage, a Transportation Department official said.
