Microsoft taps Elop to run devices unit

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella named former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop as executive vice president in charge of the company's devices group. Nadella said he has gotten to know Elop well during the Microsoft-Nokia phone partnership and the transitional period as he awaits the close of its deal to buy Nokia's handset business. At one time, Elop was mentioned a possible successor to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
