Program at Texas hospital to offer hand transplants

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas plans to launch a hand transplant program to help patients who have lost limbs in accidents or for other reasons. Ronnie Thurman, a farmer who lost his right hand in a combine accident, has a new one after a transplant in 2012. The donated hand was the first obtained by LifeGift.
