Construction spending up in February, but short of expectations

The 0.4% increase in construction spending in the U.S. for February represented a new high, but the gain still fell short of the 0.6% spending growth predicted by Wall Street. Private and public construction rose to record levels, with construction put in place rising to a record $1.047 trillion, compared with a $1.044 trillion annual rate in January.
