Bids come in for Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge span

California transportation officials have received two bids that are close to the engineer's estimate for the construction of the controversial self-anchored suspension span portion of the $6.3 billion Oakland San Francisco Bay Bridge. One bid for $1.43 billion came from Coraopolis, Penn.-based American Bridge Co., as part of a joint venture with Fluor Enterprises, of Aliso Viejo, Calif. The second bid, for $1.68 billion, came from a joint venture of Kiewit/Koch Skanska/Manson.
