Drought makes fertilizing difficult in Southeast

Late overseeding of tall fescue lawns will make it tricky to apply fertilizer this year, an expert warns. Due to a long drought in the Southeast and the resulting watering restrictions, many lawn care providers delayed overseeding until late February or early March. Following up too soon with a pre-emergent herbicide can damage the seedlings, says Scott Eicher of Dow AgroSciences, who recommends waiting two to four mowings before the first application.
