Experts urge donation of cord blood to public banks

Experts are urging parents to donate umbilical cord blood to public banks in an attempt to diversify and increase the supply. The chief scientist at the New York Blood Center said cord blood from public banks is used in many more transplants than cord blood stored in private banks.
