Some CIOs face budget woes worsened by Medicare cuts

Twenty-two percent of hospital CIOs expect to work with the same or reduced IT budgets next year, according to a HIMSS survey. And more than 40% see cuts in Medicaid and Medicare as one of the major business issues facing the health care industry as a whole, as they struggle to implement EMRs that would allow them 1.5% more in Medicare reimbursements.
