Teach for America instructors get good marks in math, science

Teach for America educators may have an edge over traditional teachers in terms of high-school math and science instruction, as measured by students' final-exam scores, according to a new Urban Institute report. Co-author Jane Hannaway believes the program's selectivity -- only 21% of TFA applicants were accepted in 2007 -- may play a role.
