New orders for manufactured goods jump 1.8% in February

After six months of consecutive declines, new orders for U.S. manufactured goods jumped 1.8% in February to $352.2 billion. Analysts had predicted a 1.4% increase for February, and the numbers show signs that industrial activity may be rebounding. However, orders for consumer durable goods, such as autos, continued to fall in February.
