How to survive a payroll crisis

Tough times can hit any business, making it hard to meet payroll, but experts say there are ways to work through the crisis. Start by warning workers as far in advance as you possibly can, then look at all available options: family loans, hard-money loans, discounted receivables and delayed executive compensation, for instance. The price can be steep, but you get to "play for another day," says consultant Donald Todrin.
