Calif. utilities have a glut of renewable-power contracts, exec says

There is an oversupply of renewable-energy power-purchase agreements among California's utilities, according to Juancho Eekhout, director of origination and portfolio design for San Diego Gas & Electric. SDG&E is "nominally" oversupplied with renewable-power PPAs, but a projected failure rate of 40% means there will be opportunities for developers willing to take the risk, Eekhout said during a panel discussion hosted by PA Consulting Group. "But for now and between 2016, there'll be no new contracts but a lot of investments," he said.
