Cooking program for Native Americans uses cultural approach

The Native American Food for Life program uses dietitians, nutritionists and other health care providers to teach Native Americans in New Mexico and Arizona to cook healthy meals using plant-based foods, in an effort to reduce obesity and diabetes. Nurse Terri Gibson of Community Health Advance says using a cultural approach to food and cooking helps participants view the information positively.
