Investor optimism swells after strong first quarter

Investors' confidence showed big gains in the first quarter of the year, according to an investor survey by John Hancock. More than 50% of investors reported feeling optimistic about stocks and balanced mutual funds. Forty-three percent of investors felt they were in a better financial position in 2012 than two years ago, compared to 33% who said so after the first quarter last year.
