Newly opened PICU was ready for Florida school bus accident

The PICU at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Fla., was open just a few days when it was called on to handle critically injured children from a school bus accident. PICU director Beth McNees said having the only pediatric critical care unit in the area made a difference because children were able to be cared for quickly by the hospital's specialists rather than being transferred to another facility.
