Philips spins off TV business into joint venture with TPV

Royal Philips Electronics is reducing its role in television manufacturing, spinning off the TV business into a joint venture with TPV Technology. TPV will own 70% of the joint venture, to be called TP Vision, while Philips will retain a 30% stake. TP Vision will sell TV sets under the Philips brand except in China, India, North America and parts of South America.
