FASB working to redefine "discontinued operations"

The Financial Accounting Standards Board has issued a proposal that would require discontinued operations disclosures only for disposals of assets that represent major strategic shifts. Investors told FASB that the current standards result in reporting of irrelevant information at an unnecessary cost to preparers.
