Fifth Maryland County Opts Out Of MSPAP

The Anne Arundel County school board yesterday dropped the contested Maryland School Performance Assessment test for eighth-graders, reports say. In place of the MSPAP, schools are to administer the California Test of Basic Skills, which provides detailed individual performance results. Once hailed as a model for standardized tests, the essay-oriented MSPAP has faced scrutiny for being unreliable.
