Barge company credits success to well-selected machines

Marine Terminals of Arkansas, a premiere handler of barged scrap iron across U.S. waterways, credits its success to a new and carefully selected fleet of machines that allow the company to load as much as 50 cubic yards of scrap iron into trucks in six to eight passes. "Other companies have tried to do it with smart hydraulics and less horsepower," says Rick Ellis, general manager, noting that they "couldn't match up" to his 651-horsepower Komatsu hydraulic system.
