IOM: Gender data integration should be part of MU

An Institute of Medicine report is proposing integrating into the meaningful use mandates the use of EHRs to gather data on gender identity and sexual orientation. The move could help address health care disparities among the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender population, the report says.
