More children participate in fun run events

The number of children who participate in fun runs has surged in recent years -- a trend which, observers say, could be attributed to concern about childhood obesity as well as parents' interest in running. Pierre d'Hemecourt of Children's Hospital Boston says there's still no data about the recommended distances for children, but noted that "the key is to keep it fun and to stimulate an active lifestyle that will persist."
