Benefits of BIM account for expanding adoption

The benefits of building information modeling, "from improved visualization and model analysis to increased coordination and reduced project costs," are drawing more users to BIM in the construction industry, writes Leo Salce. While professionals in the structural industry encounter difficulties in BIM adoption, they are seeing its benefits outweigh its challenges, Salce noted. The number of structural engineers implementing BIM is expected to double in the next few years, according to a McGraw Hill SmartMarket report.
