Fla. students take cooking lessons, plant gardens

Chefs are helping students in a Florida district develop healthy eating habits through a 10-week after-school program, Common Threads. The goal is to teach students and their families to make healthy eating choices in an effort to curb childhood obesity. Other initiatives to improve students' health include vending machines with nutritious offerings and school gardens, as well as a program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture in which fruits and vegetables are provided each week.
