Gamesa, Vestas respond to potential flaw in older models

Gamesa and Vestas Wind Systems are disputing parts of a report by ING Group analyst Maurice Rosenthal concerning a potential fault affecting components in some of the two companies' older wind turbines. Vestas said that it had advised its clients about a possible fault in its V47 wind turbines as early as autumn 2010, and found that the flaw affected roughly 4% of the units, not 30% as claimed by Rosenthal. Meanwhile, Gamesa said that it has known about a flaw in a Vestas-supplied component in its G4X wind turbines, and is offering to inspect affected units.
