Sao Paulo sets sights on green growth

Officials in Sao Paulo are working with developers to promote environmental improvements and economic growth. New zoning rules are helping to launch commercial and residential developments while also promoting energy-efficient buildings as well as reductions in water use, traffic and pollution. "These projects have a lock-in effect for decades to come, so it is critical to get them right," said Oswaldo Massambani, a senior adviser from the city's Housing and Urban Development Secretariat.
