Showing American students the advantages of being bilingual

Minnesota high-school senior Catherine Cojocaru describes her experiences from when her school hosted a group of visiting French students. She writes that she hopes the visit taught her fellow students about the personal and professional benefits of learning another language. She points out that many careers, especially in government, prefer or require bilingual abilities. Fluency in another tongue also makes a person more likely to explore the world, she writes.
