Medicare physician pay, primary care programs hurt by sequestration

Budget cuts from the sequestration provision this week triggered a 2% reduction in Medicare physician payments but it only affects the payment and not the Medicare fee schedule allowed charge, according to an American Medical Association document. The AAFP said other sequester reductions, in programs such as the National Health Services Corps, likely will affect primary care disproportionately.
