Roof replacement urged for fire station at Conn. city

The leaky roof atop the A.A. Young Hose and Ladder Co. No. 1 fire house in Jewett City, Conn., needs to be replaced to keep water from damaging the new fire truck. Local officials are looking at replacing the rubber membrane roof with a metal one that would last longer. However, the choice of roofs is up for debate. The fire station received solar panels and installed them earlier. They'll now have to be uninstalled -- and can't be used on metal roofs.
